Hi! I’m Karen Hong, a children’s book author-illustrator.

I thank my Mom for reading lots of picture books to me when I was little! Those were the most delightful memories of my childhood. In my adult life, I took a detour with architecture and urban planning, until I began reading to my children and the joy of picture books was rekindled in me.

I am drawn to layered images that encourage discovery, complex subject matter like grief and aging, and stories that explore the Asian American experience.

I am a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and represented by Wendi Gu at HG Literary. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in California with my family.

Please drop me a note! I look forward to hearing from you.
